Summer Stage Mission Statement
Summer Stage is dedicated to giving teens an educational and personal experience in a professional theatrical environment. Summer Stage program instructors hope to broaden the knowledge and love of Theatre and Art of both students and audience members.
About Summer Stage
  • Established in 2004 as a joint program between Victor Parks and Recreation Department and Everyone's Theatre Company, a Rochester-area community theatre (no longer a sponsor).
  • Designed to fill a need for a summer theatre program for children and teens in Victor and the surrounding communities.
  • 3-week program. Students meet 3-4 nights a week to take classes and rehearse.
  • Average program size, 30-35 students and growing.
  • Average program expenses, $9500.
  • Sources of program income include student tuition, advertising funds and community donations.
  • 2015 show: 'Annie Jr.' Past shows include 'Fame' (2004), 'Into the Woods' (2005), 'Grease' (2006), 'Godspell' (2007), 'Willy Wonka' (2008), 'High School Musical' (2009), 'High School Musical 2' (2010), 'Mulan Jr' (2011), 'Disney's Little Mermaid Jr' (2012), 'Fame Jr.' (2013), 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr' (2014).
About the Production Staff
John Barthelmes, Artistic Director/Producer
  • Performing, producing, directing and writing in Rochester since 1996.
  • Directed and Music Directed over 100 professional, school and community theatre productions in Rochester.
  • Owner and Artistic Director of Spotlight Studios for the Performing Arts in Fairport.
  • Professional director and performer with Great Lakes Productions.
  • Artistic Director with Gates Community Theatre, Roberts Wesleyan College-Community Theatre, Barker Road Middle School, Gananda Middle School, Wayne Middle School, Greece Arcadia Middle School, Greece Olympia High School, Gananda Community Youth Theatre.
  • Has performed in Rochester, Milwaukee, Montreal, Las Vegas and New York City.
  • Teaches acting at St. John Fisher College as well as Acting/Improv workshops.

Kaitlyn Barthelmes, Choreographer

  • Degree in Arts for Children from SUNY Brockport
  • Full time preschool teacher with a focus on teaching through the Arts
  • Teacher, Director and Choreographer at Spotlight Studios in Fairport
  • Choreographer for shows in Brighton, Pittsford, Webster, Gananda and Fairport.
  • Originally a participant in Summer Stage's inaugural seasons!
