Musical Moments • Ages 4 to 5

This class serves to establish a relationship with music through creative play and games. Classes contain elements to foster the development of music, social, cognitive, language, physical and emotional skills. Classes will work on a children's musical and perform for parents at the end of the class!

Rising Stars • Ages 6 to 8

Rising Stars is intended to strengthen listening skills and build confidence; this is accomplished through theatre games, music, movement, and creative play. A fun and supportive foundation provides a life long love for expression and creativity.


Spotlight Musical Theatre Program
The goal of our Musical Theatre program is to help our students work toward a "triple threat." In theatrical terms, this is a person who is proficient in all three aspects of musical theatre performance: acting, singing and dancing.

While working through a Broadway-style Musical, this program provides students with an opportunity to strengthen their current performing abilities and diminish their weaknesses. It also exposes them to the fun of the Art!

Musical Theatre I • Ages 9 to 12

This is the perfect class to help prepare beginning students for auditions and school musicals. Students will learn and apply acting and dance skills to Musical Theatre scenes. This class includes work in: acting, voice, movement, improvisation and character development.

Musical Theatre II • Ages 13 to 15

This class is a continuation of Musical Theatre I. Students will continue working on character development, voice, improvisation and movement. Additionally, students will learn the process of working through a musical and continue studying the main components of Musical Theatre. This course will include intermediate level instruction and prepare a student to go from audition to performance.

Triple Threat Classes • Various

This program focuses on the vocal, drama and dance components of the "Triple Threat" concept. This class contains intermediate and advanced techniques preparing students for high school and college auditions as well as professional-level performance.

Acting / Improv • Ages 12-17

This class focuses on giving young budding performers a chance to focus on acting. This workshop will cover basic acting skills such as movement, character creation, and acting technique. Improv through scene study and games help students to be more confident in public speaking.

Shakespeare Live! • Ages 12-18

This is a chance to try out some of Shakespeare's best material - in a way that we can all understand him. Appropriate material will be chosen from such works as "Romeo & Juliet", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Tempest" and other popular works. This class will result in a performance of Shakespearian scenes for the parents.


KinderMusik Education
KinderMusik is an internationally acclaimed musical learning experience program. All participants receive an at-home activity kit.

Village • Ages 0 - 18

Kindermusik's "Village" is a joyful experience for both baby (0-18 months) and a parent/caretaker. Consisting of two 8 week blocks, curriculum is presented in a developmentally appropriate theme and includes music, song, motion, literature, and fun, presented with some great parenting tips along the way. An At Home Materials kit is included for each 8 week block consisting of songs, lullabies, rhymes and activities to enhance baby's enjoyment and learning.

Our Time • Ages 18 months - 3 years

This class designed for the child and the parent or caretaker. Children and Parents will participate in a variety of meaningful activities all helping to promote movement, social development, listening skills, song, creativity, language development, pre-literacy, exploration of instruments and FUN!


Preschool Classes
We want to share our love of singing, acting and dancing with everyone, even the littlest ones!

Our Pre-School and Tot music classes are designed and taught by board certified Music Therapists Amanda Meldrum, MT-BC and Julie Austin, MT-BC, who both come to Spotlight with years of experience working with younger children as well as special needs performers.

Pre-School Play are great programs to get your pre-school aged children thinking creatively and participating in group play. Kaitlyn Zorn has a degree in Arts for Children from SUNY Brockport with a focus on Dance. She has put this practice to use at their day care center and now brings that to Spotlight.

Baby-Bye Music Time • Ages 0 - 12 months

This is a class for babies and 1-2 caregivers. The focus of the class is to continue developing the bond between babies and their caregivers through the use of music. This is a great opportunity for some Daddy bonding time! You will learn and participate in activities that encourage self-awareness, vocalizations, and enrich daily routines for you and your baby. This class is designed to help you become more confident incorporating music into your new baby's life. You do not need to be a musician to benefit from this class!

Tunes For Tots • Ages 1 - 2 years

Come make music and have a great time with your little one. Children at this age love to learn and discover different sounds and ways to use their voice. Learn how to start or continue using music in your home to enrich daily experiences. We will use music to discover body parts and how to use them. Your tot will explore animal sounds and many other fun experiences. At least one adult must stay with the child. Children with special needs are welcome and encouraged to attend!!

Music With Me • Ages 2 - 4 years

This is such a fun and musical age. Come enjoy making music with your child and some friends. We will learn age-appropriate songs, games, and finger-plays to help prepare your child for preschool learning. Using instruments, we will be learning how to share and take turns with each other. This class is perfect for your busy toddler with a lot of fun dances and songs they will love to sing with you. Children with special needs are always welcome and encourages to attend!

Preschool Play - Arts & Crafts • Ages 2 - 4years

A week-long session focusing on hands-on crafts and different art projects each day!

Preschool Play - Sing & Dance • Ages 2 - 4years

A week-long session introducing your young star to music and movement!


Home School Arts Education
Spotlight Studios offers a series of classes designed specifically for the needs of home-schooled students in the area. This wide range of classes offer these students experiences in music, theatre, dance and literature that they cannot receive anywhere else!

Musical Theatre Experience • Age 8 to 16 (flexible)

In this program, you will receive valuable instruction in the skills necessary for performing in musical theatre - singing, acting, dancing. These skills also help promote coordination, public speaking, confidence and working together.

Each student will have a chance to shine in the spotlight. You will help create a Review Show of scenes and songs from productions you know and love. Put your skills to use when you perform for friends and family at the end of the program. Work together with students your age and experienced artists to enhance your own abilities.

Acting and Improv • Ages vary

A class devoted to just acting and the creativity that flows from improvisation. We would be developing our own scenes in this class as well as playing acting/improv games.

This class helps students to become comfortable with public speaking. It also works on such things as diction, projection and dramatic interpretation.

Get Up and Move • Ages vary

This is a movement-based class designed to get kids to move and be comfortable with themselves. We'll be looking at fun-style dances like the Macarena, Line Dancing, Electric Slide, Cotton-Eyed Joe, and others!

Lunch with Shakespeare

This is a chance to try out some of Shakespeare's best material - in a way that we can all understand him. Musical Theatre Dance Classes
Spotlight Studio offers various Musical Theatre Dance and Tap classes for all ages and all levels. Please call for more information regarding upcoming dance classes and needs!

Kinder Dance - Tap & Ballet • Ages 5 - 6

This class introduces dance to the very young. It focuses on basic ballet, tap and creative movement geared toward 5 and 6 year olds. It helps to develop motor skills and coordination and to excite the young performers about the possibilities of dance!

Broadway Dance • Ages Vary

A class focusing on dance styles found in musical theatre. You will have a chance to experiment with different musical themes and styles. In each session you will learn choreography from a Broadway or Touring show. Dance and Tap will be taught that can be incorporated into musical auditions and performances. Perfect class as a musical theatre audition prep!


Workshops
Spotlight offers regular "workshops" throughout the year. These are shorter than classes and cover a wide range of topics.

Balloon Twisting

Have you ever seen those really cool balloon animals and hats that Artists make at fairs? Now is your chance to learn how to make them yourself!

Audition Workshop

This class walks through a typical middle school or high school audition. You'll learn a lot of the common do's and don'ts that will hopefully give you an extra advantage at your next audition. You will also have a chance to audition in front of the instructors for a critique (optional).
